Einhell Trimmer Replacement Head (String)

September 18, 2023

3d printed cylinder shape attached to trimmer head, with four elastic strings sticking out on two sides

This model replaces the original metal cutting head, which comes preinstalled on the trimmer.
Instead of having to use the old plastic attachment blades, you can now use your trimmer as a string trimmer.

Use at your own risk! The wire might get loose and fly off at high speeds, which can lead to injuries. Always make sure to wear proper safety gear.

Printing

Choose an infill method that fills the object evenly, i.e. Rectilinear, to keep the center of gravity in the middle.

Assembly

The head has four pairs of holes, through which you put the wire.
I find that using two opposing sites works the best, probably because the device doesn’t have enough power.

  1. Cut off two (or four) pieces of string/wire, about 20 cm each.
  2. Bend the wire about half way and push one side through one of the holes
  3. Pull the other side through the other hole so both parts stick out about the same length
  4. Repeat 1-3 for the other sides
  5. Make sure the wire/string won’t touch the plastic shield; cut to length if needed, but make sure all sides are the same length.
